Cameron Deardorff - Initial Feelings

Hey there! I am Cameron Deardorff, a freshman Computer Science major at MVNU. I thought I might share a little bit before leaving early on Monday morning.

First off, I could not be more anxious to leave for this trip! I am so excited to be escaping the cold climate of Ohio, traveling to another country, and doing the Lord's work.

For anyone who wasn't aware, we will be installing solar panels on schools and other buildings to relieve some of the cost of electricity. In Belize electricity is expensive, far more expensive than it is here in the US. We will also be creating internet connected computer labs along with educating teachers, students, and people from the community how to use them.

This won't be my first international trip, I traveled to Germany and Turkey last year around this time to visit family. The pace of life in Germany and Turkey was actually faster than what I am familiar with. Growing up in a small farming community can do that. From what I have read and been told the pace of life in Belize is much slower.

I will be posting on here frequently with what we have been up to and lots of pictures! Thank you to everyone for helping and supporting us to get to this point!
