Nathan H. - Initial Feelings

Hi! I am Nathan Henderson, a freshman at MVNU majoring in Computer Systems and Network Engineering. I just wanted to share a little bit of information with anyone reading regarding my initial feelings about the trip and the work we will be completing.

It is about 1am right now on Saturday Jan 3 and we leave Monday Jan 5 at 6am. Currently, I am working on installing Edubuntu on two Dell Latitude laptops that we are taking to Belize with us. I am also thinking about how much laundry I need to do, how I'm going to pack everything, as well as fitting some sleep in my schedule somewhere. In the midst of all of that, there is one feeling that is really overwhelming me: excitement.

This is my first international trip and I am excited beyond belief. I love to travel and I always get excited when I get the opportunity to go to a new location. One of my top reasons for attending MVNU was being able to have the opportunity to go on mission trips and work on projects that I enjoy. From what I can tell, I am going to enjoy this trip and the work we get to complete.

I am ready to learn how to install the solar panels to help save on electricity costs as well as help the environment. I am also ready to sort of take a break from my normal way of life back in the US and experience first hand how relaxed the lifestyle is in Belize. I am sure it is different and it will take a little while for me to get used to it but I believe I am ready.

I will be posting on here frequently through the coming weeks and I will also post some pictures of things I find interesting as well as our progress on the projects. Please feel free to post comments or questions on the blog entries and I will give any input that I have. Thanks to everyone for supporting us. I think I speak for the group when I say I am eager to start this journey!
